Ten cargo insights hidden in the specifications

Did you know? The ESV’s published seats-up volume is 105.4% greater than the TX’s. Start with the space you need, then evaluate the vehicle’s footprint and your actual luggage.

This is an editorial selection of ten findings, not a ranking of ten vehicles.

1. The ESV has 105.4% more seats-up volume than the TX

   (41.5 − 20.2) ÷ 20.2 × 100 = 105.4%. More than twice the published volume does not guarantee twice the suitcase count.

2. Extended variants average 38.8 cubic feet

   (41.5 + 36.1) ÷ 2 = 38.8. The three standard variants average (25.5 + 21.6 + 20.2) ÷ 3 = 22.43. The extended group average is 73.0% higher. These small, unequal groups are not the whole market.

3. The two extended variants differ by 5.4 cubic feet

   41.5 − 36.1 = 5.4. Relative to Navigator L, that is 15.0%. This measures volume, not overall value.

4. The sample median is 25.5 cubic feet

   Sorted values: 20.2, 21.6, 25.5, 36.1 and 41.5. The third of five values is the median. The mean is 28.98, lifted by the extended variants.

5. A 25-to-35 threshold change removes one of three matches

   At least 25 cubic feet gives three matches; at least 35 gives two. The reduction is 1 ÷ 3 × 100 = 33.3%. These thresholds are illustrative.

6. The standard-body spread is 5.3 cubic feet

   25.5 − 20.2 = 5.3. Across these three standard variants, your actual stroller fit can be more informative than a small numerical advantage.

7. Navigator L’s absolute gain barely changes with seat state

   Behind row three: 36.1 − 21.6 = 14.5. At maximum cargo: 121.6 − 107 = 14.6. The 0.1-cu-ft difference makes the percentage denominator especially important.

8. Cadillac adds more absolute volume with seats folded

   Maximum gain: 142.2 − 120.5 = 21.7 cubic feet. Seats-up gain: 41.5 − 25.5 = 16.0. The difference is 5.7; it is not additional seats-up space.

9. Navigator L retains 29.7% of its maximum volume

   36.1 ÷ 121.6 × 100 = 29.7%. Most of the maximum figure depends on a different seating configuration.

10. A 40-cu-ft cutoff leaves one match

    Only Escalade ESV at 41.5 clears an illustrative 40-cu-ft requirement: 1 ÷ 5 = 20%. That describes this sample, not all luxury SUVs.
